Knock knock is project that takes one of the most commonly occuring short human interactions and uses it to provide unexpected delight to the user. This was a project that I undertook while working as an Experience Technologist at Second Story Studios in Atlanta, GA.
Knock knock uses a microphone to detect the sound produced by the knocks. This data is fed to a recognition engine that can detect a particular pattern of knock (irrespective of how fast or slow the pattern is) and then upon recognition triggers a visual and auditory response that is designed to delight the user.
All the work on this project was done by me, from designing the experience, to putting together the installation to development of the technology.
